The re-development of this site in Bermondsey, to house an architectural salvaging company at street level and private / affordable housing at upper levels was undertaken as a design and build contract. Packman Lucas provided full structural engineering services to the main contractor throughout the project life.
Structural input was programmed to suit the phased construction of this 8 storey building. Key aspects included;
- • Irregular building form ‘shoe horned’ into available sitefootprint
- • Sheet piled basement walls and CFA piles internally to carry superstructure loads
- • Reinforced concrete (RC) frame from basement to 2nd level acting as podium for 5 storey preassembled timber frame above
- • RC transfer structure between residential and basement car park levels
- • Stack bonded masonry cladding
